How we actually review things.
This page is maintained by newpro's editors. It describes our current testing, rating, and correction practices.
Sourcing
We buy nearly everything we review at retail, out of our own pocket. When a manufacturer sends a loaner we say so, at the top of the review, and we return the product after publishing.
Testing period
Every product is used in daily conditions for at least seven days before publishing — often several weeks. We do not publish first-impressions pieces disguised as reviews.
The 1-5 scale
5 = category-defining. 4 = we'd genuinely recommend it. 3 = fine, has real competition. 2 = has serious flaws you should know about. 1 = do not buy.
Fact-checking
Specs and prices are checked against the manufacturer's site and at least two retailers at the time of publishing. Prices update automatically every hour thereafter.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it in-place, add a dated correction note at the bottom of the review, and update related roundups within 24 hours. Report an error via the contact page.
Affiliate relationships
We earn commissions from purchases made through some outbound links. Every affiliate link is marked with rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" and does not influence rankings.
AI disclosure
Editors use AI-assisted drafting for first passes and structure, then rewrite, fact-check, and inject their own testing experience before publishing. No fully-automated content ships without editor review.
Ongoing updates
Reviews older than 60 days are re-checked automatically and revised where the product has meaningfully changed (firmware, pricing, replacements).
